Roger Beckett is a Canadian singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and DJ.
His songs are a blend of folk, pop, country and rock with jazz, latin and world influences.
In 2013 he was awarded the “Performing Songwriter Award” at Ontario’s Durham Region, Songwriters at the Waterfront Festival.
Other festival appearances include performing twice in Nashville, Tennessee at the Nashville Songwriters Festival on Music Row playing at the Soulshine Pizza Factory, the A-Loft, Lucy’s Blue Bar Café, Judges Vinegaroon and the Best Western Music Row and has played in 2013 and 2014 in the Tin Pan North songwriters festival held annually in Toronto.
He has performed in Nashville, Tennessee at the Commodore Grille, the legendary Bluebird Cafe and plays at an annual Canadian Showcase in Franklin, Tennessee. He’ll be returning in October this year to play at the Commodore and at the Canadian Roundup in Franklin, Tennessee.
In Jan 2014 and 2106 he was invited by the Texas Songwriters Association to play in a Canadian showcase in Austin, Texas at the Austin Songwriters Group annual conference.
He has performed twice on Dave Wood’s “In the country” radio show performing his songs, “Can Hardly Wait” and “Woman of my life”.
In the Greater Toronto area, Roger has performed at the Rivoli, Cest What, the Gladstone Hotel, the Central, Free Times Cafe, the Moonshine Cafe, the Supermarket, Failte Irish Pub, Fionn MacCools and Hugh’s Room.
In 2014, Roger was a finalist in the Country Music Association of Ontario, Best Of DemoRama LIVE Showcases having been selected from auditions across Ontario, Canada.
Roger was a panelist at IndieWeek 2016 held in Toronto, Canada.
He regularly backs up other artists on guitar, bass and percussion and has played live on radio for artists.
Roger is the coordinator of the Toronto Chapter of the the Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI) which meets once a month at Harris Institute in Toronto, and is also on the organizing committee for NSAI Toronto’s annual Tin Pan North songwriter’s festival.
Roger is the coordinator of the Toronto Chapter of the Songwriters Association of Canada which meets once a month at the Free Times Cafe in Toronto.
He is an active member of the Canadian Country Music Association, Country Music Association Ontario, Songwriters Association of Canada, and the Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI) Greater Toronto Area community.
Roger released his first single, ‘Can hardly wait” in Sept 2013 and it’s available on iTunes, Amazon and other online retailers.
